A clinical thermometer is used to measure body temperature. It consists of a mercury filled  glass tube where a temperature scale is marked in degree Celsius. The mercury inside the tube expands or contracts based on the changes in the temperature of the body.

Mercury thermometers can be used to determine body, liquid, and vapor temperature. They are accurate and sensitive.

Temperature range: 35 degree Celsius to 42 degree Celsius.
